Launch of an interactive guide to brewery safety

With the growth of cottage brewing and distilling industries driven by consumer demand and increased government support, the (AR) Interactive – Brewers and Distillers Guide to Safety at Work 2021/22 was launched in response to the increased risk of hazards and injuries.

Produced by Pro-Visual Publishing and endorsed by the National Safety Council Australia, the guide helps brewery owners and workers recognize and control the main hazards specific to them by highlighting the latest WHS regulatory guidelines.

The 2021/22 guide, designed for display in the workplace, was developed with interactive augmented reality capabilities for use with a smart device. Pro-Visual said this was a targeted response to a changing landscape, as new workers often respond well to information relayed through visual means rather than written technical documents.

“Communicate WHS policies and procedures through a range of methods, including the use of technology that young people know alongside traditional methods, such as one-on-one discussions and team meetings , is very effective, ”they said.

Confined spaces and the use of carbon dioxide in the manufacture of beverages are a primary objective of the guide and are seen through the risk management framework, protecting workers from physical and psychological hazards in the workplace, as well as human factors including error prevention.
