UPCE strengthens security precautions for Southern Exposure 2021

As the Southeast Produce Council continues preparations for Southern Exposure to be held April 6-8 in Orlando, Florida, the UPCE team is working diligently to ensure the health and safety of attendees, exhibitors and staff; and they have partnered with exceptional organizations that are experts in facilitating the Recommended Safety Protocol.

UPCE is actively working with the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort to implement their enhanced health and safety guidelines, which are already in place at the hotel and will be used during the conference. The UPCE team is also proud of its continued partnership with AGS Expo Services, which has established a detailed plan focused on clean and safe event spaces.

Here are some of those safety guidelines that will be implemented in April:

  • Improved cleaning protocol: reinforced cleaning systems and increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection in all public areas, especially for high traffic areas and heavily affected surfaces
  • Physical distancing protocol: modified floor plans, reduced seating capacity, queue through signage and chandeliers, one-way aisles in exhibition halls
  • Food safety protocol: appropriate use of PPE for food handling; compliance with all Marriott and industry food safety protocols
  • PPE provided: Personal protective equipment provided on site – masks, face shields, hand sanitizer and disinfection supplies for exhibitors
  • Disinfection stations: placed in key locations and in contact areas such as check-in areas, entrances, stairs, elevator and escalator landings
  • Physical barriers: in place at registration counters as well as for most food and beverage displays
  • Temperature screening: applied to registration and entry to sessions
  • Vaccinations: The COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be offered by appointment during scheduled conference hours

These guidelines and many more can be found on the UPCE Southern Exposure webpage under the Health and Safety section.

“The Southeast Produce Council takes every precaution to ensure that we have the safest environments for doing business in person,” said Tim Graas of AWG, Secretary of the Executive Board of SEPC and Conference Chair. “We have worked diligently with the Swan & Dolphin to ensure we meet and exceed all protocols issued by state and federal governments. Social distancing practices will be enforced. We also strive to provide vaccines on-site as these supplies become more readily available.

“We have listened to our members and we know our industry is ready to meet with us,” Graas said. “We intend to provide the safest conditions for us to be all together again.”

Registration is open for Southern Exposure: The Rise of Produce, and UPCE members are encouraged to register soon at https://seproducecouncil.com/. For those unable to attend in person due to ongoing travel restrictions, UPCE recommends registering as a virtual attendee so they can connect in real time with on-site exhibitors via the SEPC Virtual Garden.
